Activities/Life Enrichment Assistant

Responsibility: 

The Activities/Life Enrichment Assistant aides the Director of Life Enrichment in planning, organizing, and implementing the life enrichment activities designed to encourage resident socialization, improve daily living skills, expand personal interests and increase the physical, intellectual, emotional, and psychological well-being of the residents.  The Activities/Life Enrichment Assistant works closely with residents, family members, volunteers, associates, and community representatives.

  • Assists in planning, developing, organizing and implementing the activity programs to encourage resident socialization, improve daily living skills, expand personal interests and increase the physical, intellectual, emotional and psychological well-being of the residents.
  • Acts as a leader for scheduled activities such as exercise, games, music activities, socials, etc. to ensure the activity plan is followed.
  • Interacts and facilitates activities with residents.
  • Assists with coordinating the transporting of residents to scheduled community-sponsored activities.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining good public relations and rapport with community groups, in order to provide outside activities and special projects for residents, (i.e. church services, special concerts, school group visits, etc.).
  • Documents in resident’s record as appropriate. Charts resident’s attitude, participation level, etc.
  • Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.
  • Exercises tact and good judgment in dealing with residents, families, and co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as needed or as assigned.
Requirements: 
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts/crafts, intellectual and educational activities, or community outings, etc. 
  • Experience with dementia a plus.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
